Eyecare Health Tips Offered Up as Important Part of Health
In this week’s HealthYeah video interview series, we sat down with Dr. Kading of Specialty Eyecare Group to chat about eye health. So often, we take eye health for granted as it relates to our overall health. But, Dr. Kading stepped in to help us understand how nutrition, lifestyle, and preventive care are important to eye health. During the interview, we get into ways to optimize your eyecare and in the spirit of our June Father’s Day theme, we discuss ideas for dads to help their kids with eye health, but also to take care of their own eyes through middle age and into senior years.

In the summary, we get into several aspects preventative care for greater eye health, including paying particular attention to screentime, supplements for eyecare health, and the role of exercise. We exercise to stay fit, build strength and to feel better. Staying active is crucial to overall health, including lowering our risk of chronic health problems like type 2 diabetes, heart conditions, and high blood pressure, but it’s also important to exercise for the health of your eyes.
Studies have shown that a sedentary lifestyle can leave a person at greater risk of vision loss as they age than a more active lifestyle. This is because many of those chronic diseases that impact our overall health can take a toll on our vision. Type 2 diabetes, for instance, is a major risk factor for several sight-threatening conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, cataracts, and glaucoma.
When we designed Excy, we made it for all, including the visually impaired. Our goal is to help all create a less sedentary lifestyle by making access to exercise easier!
